In this article, we will discuss the Yatra from Baltal to Amarnath Route and provide the relevant information for undertaking the yatra across this route

Amarnath yatra via Baltal

Baltal is located at a distance of only 14 Kms from the Holy cave.It is also the shortest route when compared to pahalgam route. The distance between the Baltal and the Holy cave can be covered by foot and ponies. This route is said to be difficult as it is a pebbled (Kucchha) Road. But the major benefit of this route is that yatris can return to Base Camp (Baltal) with in a Day

Baltal ----> Domail ---> Barari ---->Sangam----> Holy Cave

Here a few steps yatris must undergo, who wish to perform Amarnath yatra via Baltal Route

  • At the Baltal Base camp, you mobile phones will not work, But to provide telecommunication services to pilgrims, there are Telephone Booths established by the Government, that are connected via satellites.
  • Only the post paid Mobile Phones of BSNL will work in the Baltal and Pahalgam. To facilitate pilgrims , the Home Ministry of Government of India had approved for providing Mobile connectivity to pilgrims undertaking the Amarnath Yatra 2012..For more details, you can check our previous post on   BSNL will provide Mobile Connectivity to Amarnath Yatra 2012 pilgrims
  • The Baltal Route leads to Domail, which is at a distance of 5 Kms, after that comes Barari  is located at a distance of 4Km from Domail. After that comes Sangam. The Sangam is the confluence point of Baltal and Pahalgam.
  • At Sangam, there are several eating points mainly free langars that can be used to feed the empty stomach.Form Sangam the Holy cave is only at a distance of 3kms
  • At the holy cave, there are several Prasadam camps, where yatris can buy the prasad and head for Darshan in the Holy Cave
In this way, one can perform the Amarnath Yatra from the Baltal Rout.In case, you did not perform the Amarnath yatra  by foot, then you can now fly to Amarnath for only Rs 1445/-.For more details, check our previous post
